Patti's Visit to the Farm

Patti Warner joined me to spend the week at the farm. She will fly back on July 12 and I'll return to St. Louis on July 20.  Arriving in Hancock's airport was an experience for Patti.  It's a small, very small terminal that has not been updated since the 1950s (they don't even have an ATM on site), where the same person who checks you in, works TSA, and loads and unloads the aircraft.  Neil's Taxi Service brought us and eight other people to various places in Houghton and Hancock.  We shared a ride with an MTU English professor and his wife (?).  Our driver was a typical Upper - she giggled at his accent and demeanor.

By Patti's comments, I think she was pleasantly surprised by our farm. We've settled in and over the last  four days I've given her the Upper tour of Houghton and some of Hancock.  I've spent some time unpacking with Patti's help, but with a friend here we've spent more time either watching movies, driving to town or just visiting.  It has been wonderfully relaxing after the stress of the last few weeks of work and life.  I feel UNPLUGGED!...and I think Patti does too.

We plan to drive to the Jampot and Copper Harbor tomorrow - we are waiting for the best weather.  On the way north, there is a wonderful beach at Eagle River. I am hoping that I can coax Patti to dip her feet into Lake Superior.  I'll post photos of our excursion tomorrow.
